I’m giddy to share this favorite with you.

Because you and me are “busy”. Our days are full. And yet. . .

We want to follow the command:

Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. . . .Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:5 & 7

How do we impress our kids to love the Lord while we drive through McDonalds? Or change another diaper? Or help with homework while washing dishes?

Lucky for us, I’ve found one surefire way.

Seeds Family Worship.

Have you heard of it? Basically, they are word for word Scripture songs for families to worship together.

And the songs are not cheesy or annoying (you can listen for yourself via their website).

Paul in Ephesians reminded us we are in a battle. To be prepared we first need to put on our “belt of Truth” and lastly the “Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” Seeds Family Worship equips us for battle.

Like I said in Monday’s podcast, when lies start filling my head it helps if a verse of Truth immediately blocks the lie. But that verse won’t “pop” up if I haven’t dedicated time to memorize it.

We all apologize saying, “I know I should be memorizing Scripture, but (insert excuse here).”

But most of us easily learn advertising jingles and lyrics to our favorites songs. . .

Which is another reason why Seeds Family Worship is my favorite. . .my boys are exposed to Truth as we drive around Dallas. AND we all end up easily memorizing key Scripture.

I’ll never forget when I was 23 weeks pregnant with my second son. After a day of moving furniture around (not a good idea, btw), I started having some contractions and worried about early labor.

My sweet, not even two-year old, son sang to me, “When I am afraid I will trust in You, I will trust in You, I will trust in You. When I am afraid I will trust in You, in God whose name I praise”. (cue tears).

In the past, I’ve asked for Seeds CDs for Christmas presents for my boys. Stocking stuffers. Birthday gifts. We love all the ones we have gotten. I think our most replayed album is “Power of Encouragement” (Vol. 5). (click this link to listen to all the songs). But truly love them all, and. . .

Drum roll please…

Seeds just released their much anticipated 8th album, “The Word of God”. All the Scripture chosen for this volume focus on the power and use of God’s Word (even the verse I quoted above…Deut 6:4-7, is in there).

I loved how there were songs specifically for young men (#9 “Act Like Men”:: 1 Corin 16:13-14) & young ladies (#10 “A Woman Who Fears the Lord” :: Prov 31:30).

My favorite is Track 2 “Your Life is Hidden” with these lyrics:

“Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:2-3

That’ll preach on a day when life is crashing around you.

With all the time I spend thinking about being “God-centered”, I’m pretty fond of the phrase “hidden with Christ in God.” I picture Christ and I huddled together with God surrounding us.

Whew. So much rest in that image.

The CD includes calm, more contemplative, worship songs and upbeat, clap and sing along songs. With a total of 12 songs, 43 minutes of music, you could do a lot of listening along the way, filling up with Truth. I give this latest Seeds album two big thumbs up.

(There are several songs in which they did not include the Scripture reference in the lyrics…which was a bummer, but not a deal-breaker).

What’s your favorite Seeds album/song?

I received this cd The Word of Godfrom Seeds Family Worship in exchange for my honest opinion.
