Admit it, you’ve seen a girl somewhere and thought, “I can’t believe her mother let her out of the house wearing that.”
But if you’ve parented a teenage girl, you know it’s just not that simple.
How can we connect with our daughters and let them know we’re on their side even if we are not on board with certain trends or styles? My guest this week is author, speaker, and mother of four girls, Kari Kampakis. She has walked the road of countless clothing conversations with her girls. She gives practical encouragement for moms to build relationships and learn the art of compromise that doesn’t throw out standards but still lets girls have choices.

DMA has been my staple podcast since the GCM days, and I just love you my friend! (Actually, I think GCM was my FIRST podcast subscription.) I find I go through seasons and listen more in summer/fall when doing outside activities versus winter. This summer I have fallen in love with DMA all over again! Here’s what I want to tell you.
Listening is like coming home
I ALWAYS listen to the very end; your prayer, blessing and reminder is one I receive with outstretched arms. I truly truly feel blessed.
I have the most wonderful husband and support system, but some days when you stress and enunciate “you don’t mom alone” – I tear up.
It is SO comforting knowing there is a community of like minded women and nothing I’m going through is unique.
I’ve decided listening is like VITAMIN supplements for my spiritual walk. I could do without, but then I feel a bit deficient. (You give me a boost.)
And…listening to you and Cynthia together is like taking GUMMY VITAMINS!!! Getting the good stuff and enjoying it even more.
So blessed by you and the work of your hands.
And for the record, not only did I NOT stop listening to MESSmerized when you said “the LOVE BUBBLE”, I use it all the time now!
