Have you ever wished you were a foot instead of a hand? Or an eye instead of a mouth?

Let me put it another way…Have you ever wished you could be a vibrant, inspirational speaker? Or possess a beautiful voice? Or have the ability to entertain effortlessly in your home? Or give generously?

“Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ…Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body…But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.” 1 Corinthians 12:12, 15, 18

We have each been placed in the body of Christ by God…just as He wanted us to be. And yet we are dissatisfied with our giftedness, our place in the body of Christ.

Pride, or self-centeredness, leads us to either:

  1. have an inflated view of our importance, gifts, and abilities. OR
  2. be down on ourselves and lack of gifts, having a “woe is me” attitude

With humility, having a God-centered perspective on gifts, we realize:

  1. all gifts come from God (through the Holy Spirit)
  2. we each have been uniquely gifted
  3. we need to discover the gift each of us have been given
  4. use our gifts for His glory

“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-5

You may not be a speaker, but an organizer.

You may not be a hostess, but a teacher.

You may not be a singer, but an encourager.

You may not be a leader, but a mercy-giver.

You may not be a foot, but a hand. Then serve as a “hand” for His glory.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;  if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. ” Romans 12:6-8

Is pride altering your view of giftedness? Do you know your Spiritual gifts? What are you doing to use your giftedness for His glory? As God-centered moms are we using our gifts to serve our families?
