Ready or not, the holidays are upon us! What are your favorite holiday traditions? What are the ones you could leave behind?
Get sidetracked with Cynthia and me as we discuss everything from trees (real, fake, and Jesse) to gift giving philosophies (more or less presents than Jesus?) to elves and shepherds and the awful name your pie might get if it doesn’t come out just right. There’s even help for the mom who just wants to help her kids see Jesus in the midst of all the holiday stuff!

I am new to your channel (and I feel like I have found the Jewel of the Nile) and so I may have missed many talks about this, but I am in the teenage season (16 and almost 13) …. And while I feel we did baby, toddler and kid semi-well, we are now just winging it over here! And we are not winging it kind of people. I am a planner! We did the pre-baby parenting classes with our Sunday School teachers and had great mentors while they were little. I have just suddenly realized that so much of my identity in these years has become lost in them. I feel like I have become Beverly Golberg, and while this show is so funny, it is so toxic! As they have gotten older and developed their own personalities, likes, dislikes, etc.; every time we as a family would spend time together camping, weekends, Holidays, what have you and it wouldn’t go ‘as planned’ it puts me in the worst mood! I realized yesterday listening to one of your episodes that I was only happy as my unhappiest child! Dang! What a hard pill to swallow! I had become co-dependent on their happiness. And what sucks even more is that I have judged another frenemy for this. Winning it over here 🙁 So all of that to say or ask is, how did you break this cycle and making sure at the same time you balance yourself and still parenting them? I wouldn’t even know how to start finding things I can do for myself as I am a people pleaser and peace maker by nature. Thank you for having this space for us moms!
